LOOKING BACK TO TDC INSIGHTS

On 26 September, as dusk wrapped itself around the University of Nottingham’s Kings Meadow Campus, guests gathered for a special evening with Tom Dale Company - a celebration of creative innovation, movement, and digital imagination.

Guests moved freely through interactive digital pieces, beginning with INSCAPE - where urban images came alive through augmented reality to reveal stories of place and resilience. In contrast, SURGE VR offered a private, sensory journey powered by Ital Tek’s music, immersing audiences in a futuristic choreography that unfolded within the headset’s world.

A striking feature of the evening was the sense of conversation - between disciplines, between people, between worlds. Tom Dale Company have always pushed at the edges of what dance can be, and this event reaffirmed that commitment. The relaxed sharing format invited reflection alongside spectacle, offering space for genuine curiosity and creative exchange.

As twilight deepened, the outdoor debut of SURGE: OPEN AIR concluded the evening. The duet between human and animated light illuminated the night, merging physical presence with digital energy in a breathtaking meeting of body and technology.

This would not have been possible without the support of Arts Council England, University of Nottingham/VIP Studio and the incredible network of freelance artists and technical crew that bring our visions to life. Thank you!
