The unprecedented shaping of human behavior by institutions, technology and the media and its impact on individuals and society was a starting point for the research and creation of RISE.
Using Cabin Fever as a metaphor RISE develops into a serious but exciting piece of dance based on pressure, tension and release, isolation and the need for interaction.
Extreme qualities in movement, sound and imagery combine to create a unique and uncompromising world of performance.
Five hooded figures cut across society to challenge the twitching landscape that sustains and detains them. An assault on complacency, RISE is Exhilarating, edgy and beautiful taking the audience into the heart of our claustrophobic communities.
Tom Dale’s sinuous and feral choreography combines with music by drum and bass band SION, Berlin based artist POLE, Susumo Yakota, Aphex Twin and reggae superstar GENTLEMAN to create a performance that is both menacing and touching.
Created with SION [Jow_Fishy and Guy Wood](music), Susannah Henry (Set Design) and Ben Pacey (Lighting Design).
Performers: Tom Dale, Robert Bell, Louise Tanoto, Ira Siobhan and Ramona Nagabczynski
Developed with support from Laban Theatre, The Junction and Arts Council England.
